Mt. Pulag: "Darkness Breaks"
My toes are still tingling a little bit painfully...but its an experience of a lifetime!
As cliche as that may sound, the Mt. Pulag trek I underwent from May 21-22, 2011 is a memory I will revisit every time I see even just a hill (even if anthill pa yan or termite hill!)
This photo was shot around 5 am when I was on my way from Camp 2 to the summit of Mt. Pulag.
I had just stubbed my right big toe the hardest on a jutting rock on the trail (must be the aftereffect of not enough rest and doing this much exertion)...and was almost hopping about but had to be careful due to the ravine on my other side.
Camera: LX5
unedited photo except for the text.

Wow!
ReplyDeletei like the title too!
Thanks Doc Philip - from Cat and her big toe :-)
ReplyDeleteNice shot, sorry about the Toe, I know it hurts like #¤%& but at least it gets well again.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
thanks John...
ReplyDeletemy left big toe still has the violet mark from being stepped upon in HK...and now this on my right..
oh well, now its balanced out :-)
it does hurt like #¤%&!%($....and I wish I could swear on the trail (but voices carry in the early morning air)
Yes, you must "Swear in silence as if talking to the Spirits as in Shintoism or Buddhism"
ReplyDeleteI swear that I swore silently when we went down from Camp 2...
ReplyDelete...and since it was downhill, my toe kept pressing against the tough toe cover of my shoe as we went back to the Ranger station...
but at least am happy to find out that my toenail didn't get ripped out...:-)
it happened to some companions on one of their other treks...
Yes Cat, Toes can't win in the mountains with lumps of rock everywhere.
ReplyDeletelol
maybe some toe armor next time :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, Industrial shoes with steel tips.
ReplyDeletelol
I might need a tractor to help push me up the mountain then with those on...LOL
ReplyDeleteThey don't really weigh very much so I don't think so.
ReplyDeletelol
*giggles* toes safe, but stuck on the first 1000 feet on the mountain...
ReplyDeleteGanda ng silhouette.
ReplyDeletethey came on the trail after me..and I saw them standing there and waving their arms...hehehe
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking. - Faith
ReplyDeleteliterally
ReplyDeletethough do you mean because of the scene...or because ang hiker nawalan na ng hininga habang nag-trek?
LOL
what do you know,I stubbed my toe somewhere there too. mabuti na lang it only started to swell when we were back in baguio.
ReplyDeleteganda ng litrato cath; you are getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteChe just laughed at me when we bumped into each other at Park Square earlier this evening, and she saw my right foot. hehehe!
ReplyDeleteThe reason? coz now its two toes ang victim!
The first one - yung sa HK stomp, may violet pa rin till now (due to dried blood under the nail).
Tapos ngayon e yung right ko naman may eggplant tinge when seen thru my sandals...hmm..maybe I can pass it off as nail polish?
thanks Sir B.
ReplyDeletetiming lang...maybe the pain was a good motivator (or else I'd be swearing the air blue already and the rangers might kick me out for disturbing the peace)
a power photo. icing on the cake ung captured mo nung mga tao. Galing!!!
ReplyDeletethank you po, it makes me puff up (just a tiny bit mind you) to have photographers like you and Sir B like the photo.
ReplyDeleteNakakaiyak konti (because I'm now feeling phantom pain in my toes as I recall how I felt when I turned around and saw these people rising over the ridge).
