A total lunar eclipse is taking place on June 15, 2011. It is the first of two such eclipses in 2011, the second occurring on December 10, 2011.
This is a relatively rare central lunar eclipse where the center point of Earth's shadow passes across the Moon. The last time a lunar eclipse was closer to the center of the earth's shadow was on July 16, 2000.
The next central total lunar eclipse will be on July 27, 2018.
I meant to watch it but the sky in my part of the world got a little cloudy at around 12MN. I stayed up for a while but sleep soon overcame my tired muscles (just had a 2-hour badminton game). I missed it, sa madaling sabi. But I knew you were going to be up being the Cat you are. Good for you. Did you take photos?
nag FB sa akin si Che around 3 am...galing ako Ortigas earlier so di ko napuna..
first time I went out to see it di ko nadala cam...so wala akong pics about the partial eclipse, meron lang ako konti when it turned a bit red na... walang cam si Che :-(
wow...2 hours na badminton sa gabi? you have more exercise than I do Tochie...
What a time for both you and Che not to have your cameras! One of the rarest stellar events yun! Anyway, meron pa din daw this coming December pero di na yata as long as this one.
Yup. Two-hours badminton twice a week. Regular yun. Cecill plays too. I have a group of about six to eight regular playmates. We play sa Zone Badminton Center along Malugay St, parallel to Buendia (near RCBC Plaza). Si Che also wanted to play. But so far she hasn't found the right mix sa kanyang very busy sked.
