  2. I don't want to go out of the house on Holy Weeks; but if it's out of the country, that is a different matter. Incheon, uhmm, so-so.

  11. ok ba kaya Shanghai on Holy Week Doc Philip?

coz I've always wanted to see this Paris of the East...am wondering if I should risk traveling there even if ako lang....para maiba :-)

  12. honga eh...pero Holy Week in Cebu rin you can't enjoy...the beaches are also crowded, I just sleep when am there....

  13. wherever catholic religion are majority it will always be crowded. when i was in my early teen aged, i used to spent holy week in Bataan with my lola where at night you can watch a live "sinakulo" for free..it is a dramatic presentation of the passion of Jesus Christ including His trial, suffering and death.(nakatayo ka nga lang)

  14. these days, Holy Week doesn't really translate to the majority as watching Cenaculo or mga religious rites (I was fortunate though last year to have tagged along w/ Mommy Loy to Bantayan where their carrozas were paraded during the Semana Santa)...I enjoy this stuff though ayon...crowded also :-)

  15. there will be just as much crowd there even if not Holy week...it is very cosmopolitan, yet you can go back in time...like that water village, an hour an a half away from the city, and Yuyuan Garden, in the Old part of Shanghai itself...

  16. is it doable to try this trip w/out going thru a tour agency or group? something like backpacking...am still dithering if I ought to try or not..

  17. getting around in a cab was not expensive at all...you can get directions from a concierge...i wanted to try taking the subway, but no one was at the booth, & i couldn't figure out the machine...i booked the tour to Zhou Zhuang Village thru the hotel, it cost me P3000...super sulit, transfers to the hotel, tickets to entrance,& gondola ride... lunch, English speaking tour guide...did shopping at an underground mall at Science Tech Center, parang 168...but no crowds...lovely night scene at the River!

but I will keep this in mind..baka meron ulit for succeeding months, though I was hoping to use my holidays for this trip

  21. @ Doc Philip,

kc yung isang kaibigan namin, parang ayaw ng Shanghai kc wala dawng masyadong makita (well, aside from the obvious Bund)..e mahilig yon ng old stuff such as what you see in Beijing....

    ReplyDelete
  22. there is old stuff...Zhou Zhuang Village is like its trapped in time...will check my albums & get the link...you saw them before.
YuYuan Garden is old too, & its right in Shanghai...the Bund is circa '20's & '30's architecture

  23. do you have an album where you have posted them in groups by site? or paisa-isa po? some of the Shanghai-related ones yata parang may nakita ako pero by one pic at a time :-)

I need to check also for some travel blogs ..haha

  24. it will take me a while to look for it, medyo more than 1600 na albums/posts ko...hehe

    ReplyDelete
  25. ayos...did you tag them as shanghai?
if yes, then I can look for it by just clicking on your tags...

ah..news pala..ang ubos na ang Wed...but Holy Thursday and up is still open for the promo fare..hehe...kaso deadline na ngayon...
and am waiting to see if I could instead go to Melbourne pero next week ko pa malaman.....my fault yon..huhu

  31. hi Luce!

I have to wait if next week ma transfer na points ko lahat (so remiss of me, I should have done it earlier, may kulang pala ako to get the whole thing)...then I can get the round trip ticket...so am praying and keeping my fingers crossed may seat pa for me on April 20 and upwards :-)

di na ako bumili ng Shanghai..hehe..sabi ko kailangan matuloy na ang date ko w/ Luce and the tasmanian devil..or maski kangaroo...*prays to the patron saint of travel*

if matuloy either Holy Week or last week of April....will email you lang once I get to know the requirements etc. I probably have to get the ticket before I apply for the visa
