Left comment on this website which used my photos without prior permission: "Wouldn't it be better if acknowledgment of any photos grabbed from other people used in this site would be practiced diligently? I noticed that one particular establishment herein featured has photos plastered on this site which were taken from my Multiply blog without asking for my permission nor has any statement saying where they were taken. While I share or talk about where I've been to, in order to help promote lodgings, tourist spots, and what-have-you etc. I would consider it courtesy if I had been asked beforehand."

  1. Yes, you're right, absolutely! It's just common courtesy to ask permission. However, it's my understanding that any photo posted in Multiply or in any of the social networking sites is fair game.

  2. Grabe...eh mga litrato mo yun! anak ng weteng!
that's why i have my reasons for resizing(lower resolution) or not posting my favorite picks at all...we should watermark our photos...but ang laking trabaho...i think you have to use Photo Shop. i was told you can watermark the lot in one go...i never looked into it.

  3. there's useful feedback from Papa Gerry in FB :-)

Gerry Ruiz ‎ - Cat, remind them too that uploading photos which infringe upon rights of others is a downright violation of TOS of the social networks which can subject them to having their accounts DELETED.

  4. BNK, its fair game...of course, everything posted on the internet is, because its seen by the public.

    Its still not right though.

  5. actually here in MP isn't there a checkbox where we don't allow the downloading of the pictures (in high resolution)..

but you know, as long as you can click on the photo and 'save image' its useless...

sa Flickr, you can protect it as they can't download the actual file.

I only watermark those photos which I think look quite nice...pero parang lahat na yata dapat hahaha!

  6. and there I was just lamenting in FB...

on one hand, we get chased off by security guards for taking photos

and when you are able to take photos naman, on the other hand, these gets grabbed without your permission...

    hayz...buhay is life...

  7. i was thinking one reason security guards refuse picture taking is bec of intellectual property rights...displays on malls, designs etc so they are not copied...maybe thats a reason.

  8. it could be one..but how about what happened to Sir B sa SM? his story about that celebration of SM and how it contributed to the community -> pati yon ayaw picture-ran...?

for me its like a secret - the moment you tell one other person, even if he swears a blood oath, its not a secret anymore :-)

how can something not be copied once its seen by the public...

  9. I learned from an English class in UP. Morons make the best drivers. I thought about it & I saw the point. Not to generalize but this may apply to the sekyu too. They take orders literally, since all orders from their superiors were never detailed.

  10. sabagay theirs is not to ask the why :-) merely to execute ...

generally speaking so ganon din kaya soldiers sa military if that is the way of thinking di ba? how else would it work...

  12. that makes me a bit scared truth to tell...ngeh...!

  13. I still think this whole photo ban is just a security guard power trip. Either this is their way of being empowered or they're simply obeying orders. The only way to resolve this is to go to Mall management, building management, and/or security agency to find out.

  15. hi Mommy Loy,

Based on the reply on their website, I'm thinking maybe its not the fault of Just Inn (unless mismo sila naghatag sa pictures) but the one who has put up/maintained the site.

Oh yes, the admin (?) replied, giving his/her apologies and saying it was his fault and have taken down the pictures.
And that it was a lesson learned.

The ironic thing is that a simple asking me would have sufficed. Or even a little note below saying where the origins were from.

    The reply from them -

    Best of Dalaguete
please accept my apologies... its my fault. anyways, i have removed your picture. http://bestofdalaguete.weebly.com/just-inn.html

  16. How did I find out about this if you are curious :-)

Somebody posted a comment on the Multiply album/blog I had about the trip we made to Dalaguete when we stayed there. He said he was a friend of Mona's and had put up a website dedicated to the lodgings (and of course gave me the link).

I checked it out, simple enough, made one or two suggestions (like a guestbook) and said I'm glad it was still there and that I'd post about it in FB (which I did).

So I got to thinking, just how often does this inn come up when people google about Dalaguete? Maybe they are not just being marketed enough...

I got a list of links and checked them out one by one....and then...

...voila, one of the links lead me to the site where my photos were uploaded...and I was surprised, to say the least :-)

  20. What a shame!...sometimes, people just don't think of the consequences....or, they don't really care even they're caught of doing wrong things...that's considered stealing!...must not have good upbringing or not being thought of right & wrong doings in life...i know how you feel!...maybe you should make a comment in that site about your pictures & see how it is...
