Last week it was my electric water kettle which resigned from work. Last night (my fault though due to its precarious perch) my study lamp also winked out of commission. Appliances are falling ill and dead as a dodo. I better go and buy replacements before this appliance virus infects the others in my domain...

  1. the thrifty me wishes I could have this repaired but the practical me knows it may cost more than buying a new one...

one of these days, am going to go to a "crafts" school and study to become a repairer of all things electrical....

  2. things are not made like they were used to...these are made to be replaced. sad fact of life these days

  3. ay, thats so true Doc...

we still have National na brand of electric fan back in my parents house..still alive from dekada 1970 in Mactan island...(knock on wood) never needed oiling or even repair, it still functions...although medyo di na sya as mint green as before...and halatang antique..hehee

in contrast ilang ibang electric fan sa bahay na pinalitan na...3D to Hanabishi to ano pa...

  6. it wasn't Aladdin's lamp

if it was, that would be another story *grin*

  7. Don't you wish you had Aladdin's lamp? You get your wishes na, no electricity bill pa.

  8. If I had 10,000 pesos for every wish I had, I'd still be poor these days...

  9. Dami-damihan mo kasi ang mga wishes mo.

  10. marami oi...mas marami pa kaysa hairs on your head (which is saying a lot coz you have lots of hair..hehehe)

  11. O, eh di No. of hair on my head X P10,000.00 = Billionarya ka na!

  12. ang punto ko is..maski gano pa kadami hair x 10K,ganon pa rin, wala rin sa mga ganitong panahon...

  13. There you go again, sounding like us (old people), worrying about money. You're young, educated, upwardly mobile professional, sociable, cheerful, funny kind of person. The world is your playground. Life is a beach.

Here are some tips on what you can do - http://www.glamour.com/sex-love-life/blogs/single-ish/2010/06/36-things-every-single-girl-mu.html

Of course, hindi applicable lahat. Pero siguro naman kahit kalahati of the 36 items on the list puede mong gawin. Yung iba nga nagawa mo na siguro.

  14. hmm....I checked the list..probably less than 6 ang di ko pa nagawa....I hope I don't sound like I am bragging or anything.. (e.g. build a bookcase..unless piling up planks on blocks of wood counts, a Santacon convention attendance, and letting my married friends edit my online dating ..well because I don't have an online dating profile..hehehe)..

I think those people who've known will not be surprised more than 3/4 of the list I've done already.....

I've done pretty all what I want to do w/out the mental shackles (maybe from my mom yung attitude na to...mas daredevil-ly pa yon kaysa akin!)...am still going back to the money part because there are so many other things I want to do and travel to...and I don't have the money...so back to square one...hahaha!

  15. Wow, 30 out of 36! That's about 85% accomplished! Some people can only dream of doing anything more than half of it. About all your other plans, patience my dear, darating din yan. This only proves na bata ka pa nga, i.e. mabugnutin, or kulang sa pasensya. That sounds very negative. How about daring and venturesome?

  16. actually if medyo lenient lang ako sa description, parang siguro yung tatlo lang mentioned ko above ang di ko pa nagawa..LOL...

the thing is, whatever can be done today I always try to do, because the future is uncertain...you never know if tomorrow, you will be under a bulldozer and flattened into a pancake...so if presented w/ a good opportunity to experience something and the pros outweigh the cons, then as much as possible, as safely as it can be done (am not saying go jump off a plane w/out a parachute), then why wait? Carpe Diem!

  17. shempre nagmamadali...I only have 20 more years to go where I can be active in gallivanting about w/out pain to my knees or back...because if later, I am sure I will be thinking twice because the bones don't knit as quick as they used to..LOL

  18. Well, then jump of the plane with it! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. again, it circles back to needing money to pay for such an activity...

so its not a question of my not wanting to try these things out..it is simply for the lack of resources to do so..at this point...but am sure, one day, isang araw...and hopefully soon...I can do that, bungee jumping, parachuting, hang-gliding, rolling down a hill in that big transparent ball, etc. etc. ipon ulit...

  24. Don't try the electrical stuff yourself. I did some tinkering with gadgets and small appliances with success...and thought I could handle the stove when it failed. Well, there was a minor explosion....hahahah. The guy at the hardware shop cautioned me never to do what I did again...and said I was lucky not to have caused a major fire.

  25. don't worry Mommy Peachy..takot ako sa koryente..kc ilang beses na ako nakoryente...*painful grin*

am also prone to burns and cuts...kaya...I respect appliances and anything electrically-related...

as for you..*tut-tut* be good, bahala na plumbing pero ganon nga rin as the hardware shop guy said..mahirap mag cause ng isang minor explosion..baka sabihin nag experiment ka ng bomb to destabilize the US govt (ok, my imagination is running away from me again)

  26. When were these? When you were at the cuckoo's nest?
