A very good modern ryokan in Asakusa is "Ryokan Shigetsu". It has lots of amenities that other ryokans miss out on giving to the modern traveler in Japan...though the con is the smaller space/room, its the only one as far as I am concerned. Internet in room..wheee!
Perfect! And what do you need a bigger room for anyway? Unless....
ReplyDeletekc mahirap w/ luggage....the one I am now, here in Takayama is even cuter than the one in Asakusa, so when I open my bag..ayos, just room for sitting space :-)
ReplyDeletebut its so cosy here, if you or the other Kayus should come to Takayama, I hope you will book in this place, nakakaktuwa...may kitchen, ref etc. and may family room sya....walang elevator pero its so charming and the location is really good....kayang kaya from the station but not near enough that you could hear the train...

ReplyDeletetara na..nagkita na kami ni Ramel kanina...hehhe...
ReplyDeleteah..but maybe some other folks do not like to try it the Japanese way of sleeping on the tatami mats...
ReplyDeletefor me, its not that much of a big adjustment because in my maternal grandma's house in the country before, we sometimes all cuddle up on the floor and sleep on native mats (banig as we call it)...my complaint was that medyo curved kc spine ko, so masakit, so they had to pad it w/ blankets etc.
then in the morning we would roll up the mats and blankets and put away the pillows...and the wooden floors would be shining and bare again...
