HAKONE, JAPAN, 4th November 2010 - In Hakone's Open Air Museum, more than 300 works by Picasso are gathered.
Here I am outside said building housing not only Pablo Picasso's works but also those of his daughter Maya.
Aside from that come-on, there are also portraits of Picasso taken by David Douglas Duncan for the last decade or so of Picasso's life.
Interesting. Nice photo too.

thanks John...
ReplyDeleteI can't share any photos inside as indoor exhibits are usually no-photo zones...:-(
Yes I know, it is the same almost everywhere.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
the Hakone Open Air Museum though has a lot of sculptures outside..so I wasn't feeling too deprived...
ReplyDeleteWe have an open air section at our Museum of Modern art with Sculptures, no photo restrictions there except inside.

in Nagoya castle, there was a floor where no flash photography was permitted...in another no photos was the restriction...but at least...
ReplyDeleteSame in Osaka Castle, parts of Himeji Castle and Shurijo Okinawa. Himeji Museum of Modern art and Hyogo pref Museum of art Cameras must be deposited on entry.
ReplyDeletein situations like this, my mind always goes "Mission Impossible" style and then I imagine my glasses having a micro-camera...hehehe...
ReplyDelete300 works in one museum alone; Picasso was so prolific.
ReplyDeleteis this a permanent exhibit of Picasso?
ReplyDeleteThat takes a huge cube to house 300 works!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Cat.
parang kulang 300 works..hahaha....I mean, from whence did he start to when did he die?
ReplyDeleteI was expecting him to be having 1000 works!
but seriously, very very nice potteries, paintings, sculptures inside....my eyes really had a feast..and it was flitting about so quickly as if trying to record everything coz pictures weren't allowed...
I think so..they also have Henry Moore's works...but Picasso ang naalala ko housed in this building..visited 2 floors of it...
ReplyDeletethanks Mar...yeah, it was a big building...
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, I was expecting the building to look more like a Picasso work too :-)
Unless, the building is round, it may look like Picasso's work.
ReplyDeletehmm....well, to be fair, am not exactly very knowledgeable about his works, I have seen some of his pieces over the years (the first time I saw one was when I was young and read an article about cubism)
ReplyDeletehmm...so yung mga SM malls, parang Picasso works...cube din kc..haha!
